Do's + Don't's For Stunning Summer Skin
Summer has just begun and we know it’s going to be nothing but longs days and fabulous nights. Fun in the sun for the next 3 months and my third favorite time of the year (Fall is #1 and Spring is #2 – but enough about me)!! In the midst of it all, we must keep in mind that extreme climate changes can take a toll on our largest organ – our skin.
So when it comes to Summer Skin Care, there are a lot of great things (and not so great things) you can do. Let’s go over a few of them!
DO stay hydrated: We tend to be out in the sun more than normal during the summer months (and why wouldn’t we be? Isn’t that what summer is all about?) just soaking in all the rays and getting that natural dose of pure Vitamin D. That heat can be extremely dehydrating with all the water our bodies expel trying to keep us cool. Be certain to replenish what you are losing by drinking plenty of water. This will not only prevent you from passing out due to dehydration, it will also assist with keeping your skin healthy and clear from the inside. Sounds like a win-win to me.
DON’T forget to moisturize – DAILY: Let’s not pretend dry, tight skin feels great, because it doesn’t. We are already hydrating ourselves from the inside but that definitely won’t help when it comes to keeping the exterior hydrated. Don’t want to be counterproductive here now do we? With that being said, moisturize your entire body – not just your face and legs. Natural butters are always a plus!
DO keep your regimen rather simple (mainly during the day): You may want to skip anything too heavy and go with a more simple routine. It’s already hot enough, you don’t want to block your skin from feeling the breeze with a ton of heavy creams and layers. Cleanse, tone, moisturize, done.
DON’T forget the sunscreen: Because, you know, logic. Sunburn is painful. Period.
DO carry a toner: An all-natural toner can be used a million times a day without any harmful effects. Get you one in a mist spray type of bottle and use it to get a quick cool down in seconds. Try one with peppermint for extra cooling, neroli for a little pick me up or rose for the relaxing scent.
Lastly, DON’T forget to enjoy your summer: Now that you have prepped and protected your skin, go out there and enjoy all that summer has to offer!
